Another way i was able to convince everyone to go to Munich was that it is a two hour drive from the "sleeping beauty" castle ... yes it is the model for the disney castle. The area around Neushwanstein includes two castles Hogenshwengau (sp??) where King Ludwig grew up, and then the castle he built on his own castle, Neushwanstein.
The castle was amazing and beautiful, and is still owned by the Bavarian royal family. They, however, gave up the throne after WWII... the family was against Hitler and imprisoned, and then when they got out decided to only be dukes...
On another note, it was snowing... it looked like a fairytale! This was a crazily warm summer and it didnt snow at all in Germany until March, right when we were in the perfect place to enjoy it! so scenic! AND on top of that, my Mom has never seen snow. We had such a great time!
