NOLA at Christmastime

My mom and I decided to take a quick three day weekend to New Orleans. She hadn't been there since before hurricane Katrina, and I had been trying to convince her to go back there. And at Christmas time? It was magical!!

And it felt like the city welcomed us with open arms:

The first day we arrived and naturally were craving fresh Cajun seafood- I could live off of it if necessary! We had heard many good things about ACME Oyster House and if you can believe it my mom tried her first oyster there! Too bad I didn't get a picture!

Then it was time to explore- and be stereotypically "NOLA", yes You'll notice the BUBBA GUMP bag in my hand, I've mentioned before it was my favourite and now I've got another location ticked off my list!

Beautiful New Orleans Style Building
The second day we started off at my favourite New Orleans brunch stop- the Ruby Slipper, their brunch is always spot on- and the perfect beginning to a day of adventure

We then headed to Jackson Square and stopped inside St. Louis Cathedral- loved the nativity set displayed for Christmas.

In Front of Jackson Square
Next came the steamboat cruise- neither of us had ever done this before and it was a great way to see the city- the scary part was that a giant storm was  coming in and we had no idea- the wind on the boat was insane! but the city was beautiful ...

And as always a stop at "Café du Monde"... I can taste those beignets now- I would do anything to have easy access to that coffee spot- PLEASE!!

Merry Christmas NOLA!! I'll be back soon!
